AWMAC Ontario AGM & Awards Dinner

On February 22, 2018 AWMAC Ontario held its Annual General Meeting at Oakdale Golf & Country Club.  Those that attended the AGM, found it not only informative but positive and encouraging!!  AWMAC Ontario is pleased to advise that thanks to the hard work of many of our members, the association is increasing in Membership, Education Initiatives and GIS Projects.

Some of the more notable moments included the announcement that there has been a change of guard this year on the Board of Directors. Peter Gallagher of Convoy Custom Woodworking has handed the helm to Ian Christie of Upper Canada Forest Products.

Peter has dedicated much of his time over the past three (3) years to move AWMAC Ontario forward and has worked hard and made many positive changes. During Peter’s tenure as President of AWMAC Ontario, an Association Manager was hired, the Apprenticeship Contest was brought back, AWMAC produced a Contract for our Members to utilize at time of tender, AWMAC Ontario has been actively participating in trade shows and other educational events, such as Skills Ontario and has introduced to our Members the AWMAC Advantages Program - just to name a few. AWMAC Ontario would like to thank Peter for all his hard work and contributions over the past three (3) years and we look forward to his continued support of AWMAC Ontario.

This year AWMAC Ontario had three (3) Directors step down from the board.

Robert Antonel of Second Generation Furnishings, a long time member of AWMAC (21 years!!) and many years on the Board of Directors. During Robert’s time on the Board of Directors, he has served as Secretary Treasurer for a number of years, as well, Robert was the first Ontario GIS Director!! AWMAC is extremely grateful to Robert and would like to wish him all the best and look forward to his continued participation with AWMAC.

Livio Passalent of Crescent Cabinets announced his resignation to pursue work and personal priorities at this time. AWMAC would like to thank Livio for his years of service on the board and to the membership, most notably as the Vice President for the last three (3) years and GIS Director.

The third Director to step down is Philip Roy of Formica. Philip has stepped down to allow other members to join the Board of Directors. Philip’s enthusiasm for AWMAC and its continued growth will be missed!! Philip has been integral in many of the AWMAC Events over the past years, serving as the Social Director!! AWMAC Ontario greatly appreciates all the work that Philip has put in to ensuring our events are engaging and fun for all.

AWMAC Ontario wishes these three gentlemen all the best and hope to see them at future AWMAC Events!!!

AWMAC Ontario would like to introduce the three (3) new Directors joining the Board for the 2018/2019 Term.

Mike Sanchez of All Wood Fine Interiors
Sam Meyer of Emily Creek Woodworking
Troy Fagan of Uniboard

AWMAC welcomes, Mike, Sam and Troy and looks forward to their insights and ideas to help continue to improve AWMAC Ontario for all its members.
