On Friday June 22nd, 2018, AWMAC Ontario held the Annual Al Sparling Memorial Golf Tournament, and what a fantastic event!!!!

This year Mother Nature co-operated beautifully, not too hot with a sun/cloud mix! The tournament was a huge success and one of the most attended in years!! All those who joined us for this fun, networking event had a great time, all while enjoying a beautiful course and delicious food… even if some of the drives were a little short!!!

Thank you to all those who participated in this years event! And a huge thank you to Nobleton Lakes Golf & Country Club for once again hosting AWMAC Ontario. The staff, led by Jon Mozes, were great, providing professional customer service with a smile to all those who attended and food that was superb!!

This year AWMAC Ontario would like to congratulate the winning team, Ken Smith, Josh Pilo, Rob Nogas and Desmond Lee representing Hardwoods!!!

Additional Congratulations is to be given to the following for their most accurate golf shots:

AMWAC Ontario would also like to give a huge shout out to Shannon Gallagher and Jordan Caley for taking photos of all the teams, printing the photos and ensuring all attendees received a framed team photo!!!

As many may know, the AWMAC Ontario Golf Tournament raises funds for an AWMAC bursary in Al Sparlings Memory, which is donated to Colleges in Ontario that offer a woodworking program. The bursary is donated to a student that requires additional financial help with their education. This year Georgian College will receive this bursary!

Thank you to all those who participated in the 50/50 Draw – all funds raised from this draw will be donated directly to the Al Sparling Bursary. A total of $820.00 was raised and the lucky winner Ian Rowe of Royal Woodworking/ Alexandria Moulding won $410.00!!

AWMAC National AGM: Thursday May 31 – Saturday June 2, 2018

AWMAC Ontario would like to Thank AWMAC Northern Alberta for hosting a great National AGM this year in Edmonton!!!

At the National Annual General Meeting, Larry White, AWMAC’s National President and the National Board discussed the successes of this past year and what AWMAC Members can expect in the coming year. Please see the Board Meeting Minutes that will be distributed by National for the items discussed and future plans.

The social events were great fun, including an afternoon at The Rec Room where all those who participated were able to release their ‘inner child’ by play racing games, pool, shoot ‘em up games, bowling, axe throwing (this is not as easy as some make it look!!) and so much more!!!

The tour of the Craft Breweries was one of the high lights for some of the guests, especially the tasting of the great beers that were sampled!

The dinner at the Art Gallery of Alberta was amazing!! Just as amazing was the hypnotist, who showed all the skeptics that hypnosis is real!!

To cap it all off was the President’s Gala. This was a beautiful event that started with cocktails over looking the Northern Saskatchewan River, which was followed by a superb meal of bison (for many) and ended with a great band!!!

As always, the food was wonderful, the company great fun and the connections we all made will last far longer than the few days we were together!! We look forward to seeing all those who attended the Edmonton AGM again next year and we encourage all those who missed the AGM this year to plan to attend next year…. You will not be disappointed!!!!
